Weekly Newsletter 08/18/2022
Peace to you, dear church!
On behalf of the elder board, I want to remind you, beloved, that this year we are especially emphasizing growth in evangelism. We talk more about personal evangelism, share more about our experiences, and oftentimes begin our meetings with prayer for the people we evangelize. And now here is another step towards helping us grow in personal evangelism.
What we’re proposing will help inform and equip us. We want to give all the members of the church an opportunity to try being on the “frontlines of evangelism.” Starting in September, every Sunday we will actively reach out to the people who live around the church. How will this work?
Every home group, in some order, will stay after the church services for lunch, a 30-minute training, and then go into the neighborhood to evangelize. Each group will receive specific instructions and a map of the streets which they’ll need to cover.
Every group will not only receive a concise training on evangelizing, but they will also receive New Testaments and gospel tracks to give out to people. This method is called “door-to-door.” In groups of 2-3 people, we will go to each house and start conversations, invite people to church, offer gospel tracks and bibles, and if they’re open to talk, share with them the good news.
I will remind you once again that this method of evangelism does not fit our daily evangelism (we, of course, normally spend our time at work or school), but this method provides valuable experience. Such a method will help us gain experience in working with people, will show us that our fears of sharing the gospel are unfounded, and, of course, people around the church will hear the gospel and will be invited to church.
This is yet another reason to join a home group this fall!
Please pray that all questions regarding this ministry will be solved.
