About Prayer Meetings

Dear Church,

We warmly invite all of you to join our prayer meetings, held every Thursday at 7:30 PM. These gatherings last only 45 minutes, but their spiritual impact feels like 3-4 hours of fellowship. During these meetings, the Lord reveals, answers our prayers, and transforms our hearts.

Prayer is the breath of every Christian, a path to a closer and deeper relationship with God. In prayer, we ask the Almighty to fulfill what He has promised in His Word. It draws us back to a posture of complete dependence on our Creator.

To encourage you to consider joining us on Thursdays, let me share with you what takes place at our meetings. Here is an example of what we will be talking and praying about this evening:

Psalm 10

  • Congregational singing
  • Reading (Psalm 10) and prayer
  • Reflection on the passage
  • The Prayer of adoration (identifying and rejoicing in the attributes of God presented in the Psalm)
    • Lord, I exalt and glorify Your name because You…
    • My God, I rejoice and proclaim that You always hear and answer, just as You have done in Scripture… and in my life… (specific examples)
    • God, You see evil and injustice, yet You continue to rule and reign forever!
  • Prayer of response to the Word (confession of sin, surrendering to God, and trusting His will and ways)
    • Creator, I confess and ask forgiveness for not always being sincere in my prayers, for saying only the “right things” without opening my heart to You, and trying to hide unrighteousness in life, like…
    • Savior, forgive me for paying attention more on the wicked than on You, which leads me to react this way…
    • Acknowledging that You, Lord, are the just and faithful Judge, I entrust into Your hands the following injustices, pains, and concerns..
  • Prayer of supplications and petitions (asking the Holy Spirit to guide our prayers for physical and spiritual needs, concerns, and relationships)
    • God, because Your name is… I ask You to help me trust You more deeply.
    • Lord, help me to care more about Your kingdom, Your name, and Your reputation in this world, rather than my own.
    • Heavenly Father, grant me the grace to be captivated by You and what is Yours, so that I won’t be distracted by judging or condemning the wicked around me when I see…
    • At-home assignment: Memorize (vv. 17-18).

During the prayer meetings, we pray individually on our knees, using a microphone, or in small groups. The 45 minutes fly by because corporate prayer is so encouraging, uplifting, and strengthening. Take a look at your schedule and try your best to rearrange one or two things in order to join us for these meetings.

Scripture To Memorize

1 Thus says the Lord:
“Heaven is my throne,
    and the earth is my footstool;
what is the house that you would build for me,
and what is the place of my rest?
All these things my hand has made,
and so all these things came to be,
declares the Lord.
But this is the one to whom I will look:
he who is humble and contrite in spirit
    and trembles at my word.

Isaiah 66:1-2
