An Invitation to serve at VBS
As Christians, we are all familiar with the “Great Commission” in Matthew 28:18-20:
“And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’”
Often, we interpret Jesus’ words to mean that we must go far away—to places like the Amazon, the tribes of Kenya, or countries like Spain and Poland. And while we are indeed called to go to those places, it is important to remember that we must begin at home first.
In Luke 24:46-48, Jesus tells the disciples:
“Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance for[a] the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.”
Just as the disciples began their mission in Jerusalem, we too must begin with those closest to us—our children, our neighbors, and our community. This is why we host Vacation Bible School (VBS) every summer. The focus of VBS is the Gospel. It is not just a fun program for kids or a way to give parents a break. The ultimate goal of VBS—and of every church member—should be to proclaim the Gospel, ensuring that it reaches the hearts of the next generation and those around us.
Serving at VBS is a rewarding experience that offers many benefits! Not only will you have the joy of sharing God’s love with children, but you’ll also:
- Gain valuable experience working with kids
- Develop teamwork and collaboration skills
- Learn to resolve conflicts in love
- Discover effective ways to share the Gospel with children from unbelieving families
Local mission is just as vital as global mission!
As a church please pray:
- For the children of Grace Family
- For the children God will bring to us this summer
- For volunteers’ hearts to be filled with the desire to serve and share Christ’s love.
Join us for an Open House this Sunday, February 9th!
- After Russian Service

- In the Youth Room
Come ask questions, sign up to serve, and be a part of sharing God’s love with the next generation!
