In Memory of John MacArthur
It has been about a month since one of God’s servants was called to heaven to meet his Lord. John MacArthur is a well-known figure in Christian circles. There is no need for us to list all the ways God used him for the advancement of Christ’s Kingdom. We only want to let you know that this Saturday, at 10:30 AM, a memorial service will take place at Grace Community Church. We are placing a link to that church’s website below so that you may join online.
Taking this opportunity, I want to note just a couple of ways John MacArthur influenced me. First, I had a far fewer interactions with him than those who have been writing about John this past month. Yes, he taught in some of my seminary classes. But one moment stands out: when Irina and I ran into John and Patricia before one of the dinners organized for seminary students and professors. We had a short conversation and took a picture for memory. Simply put—they, without any sense of superiority, interacted with us in simplicity and sincerity. And that is what stood out – simplicity. Often, people of such statue lose the ability to notice and extend a hand of fellowship to us the ordinary mortals. Unfortunately, I was unable to find that photo.
While attending seminary and Grace Community Church, I learned another important lesson from pastor John – a true commitment to expository preaching and to the authority of Scripture. This greatly influenced me during my studies. This commitment and devotion to the truth is what I desire to have myself and to pass on to others.
I thank God for the good influence of such men of God. To God be the glory!

Scripture To Memorize
"praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel,"
